This Week on StakeCube, 30th of July 2021

General News

StakeCube in Numbers

For the first time since 2015 Bitcoin has completed 9 consecutive days of growth. Perhaps as a consequence, many other cryptocurrencies also had strong performances this week. SCC managed to gain a substantial amount of value, even in the face of a few people cashing out. These price increases have greatly improved mining returns, with additional contribution from the latest difficulty reductions across most mining coins. On the news front, many discussions have started this week in the United States regarding regulation of the cryptocurrency sector. Over the coming months we will see what effect this has, as it depends on what kind of decisions regulators reach.

  • User Count: 106,024 +0.50%
  • Pool Value: 578.38.8 BTC -1.94%
  • Daily BTC Mined: 0.159 BTC +6.00%
  • SCC Price: $0.86 +13.16%
  • SCC Market Cap: $7,930,000 +13.92%
  • Alexa Rank 20,001 -1673

We have decided to include in this section the top price gainers of the week among the coins listed on StakeCube. To keep it fair and avoid manipulation, only coins with a reasonable trading volume will be considered. These are this week’s top gainers:

Gainers

  1. MMO +90.43%
  2. COLX +64.44%
  3. FLS +41.61%
  4. RDD +39.10%
  5. LUX +25.84%
StakeCube Protocol Litepaper

We have completed work on an initial version of a litepaper for StakeCube Protocol. The document should help introduce SCP to potential integrators, providing a high-level explanation of what it is and what it can be used for. It also pinpoints what the strongest points for SCP are. You can take a look at it here:

Shared Masternodes

This week we had some users send coins directly to a masternode address, instead of following the intended procedure. Although our team was able to recover the coins and no funds were lost, we felt it necessary to remind our users how it should work. To participate in a shared masternode, first go to the following page:

https://stakecube.net/app/masternode/

Then you must click on the coin you want to reserve masternode shares from. Once this coin is displayed, click on the green + button at the top and select the number of shares.

Also keep in mind that the shared masternode system will be phased out at some point in the future, and replaced by the earn system. The earn system will combine a Proof of Stake pool with shared masternodes, and pay rewards daily proportionally to the user’s balance. This will eliminate the need to reserve slots, making it possible to earn daily rewards directly after depositing to StakeCube.

BSC Issues

Earlier this week we were forced to set BSC and all BEP-20 tokens into maintenance. Following the latest update, the Binance team increased the gas limit again without prior notice. As a consequence, our node started to fall behind the chaintip, causing sync issues. We are currently in the process of upgrading the environment for the hosted full node but this is a time-consuming process. We expect the wallet to be back online at some point next week. Follow these links for more information on the update and the issues it caused:

https://www.binance.org/en/blog/together-we-climbed-a-new-peak/
https://github.com/binance-chain/bsc/issues/325

Because of the unexpected maintenance we have noticed an increase in the number of tickets, particularly related to BSC-USDT deposits. Unfortunately there is not much we can do until we manage to address the synchronization issues caused by the update.

New MineCube Strategy

Together with our mining partner Meatec, we are discussing a new strategy to place orders with them. This could help our planning, making worker availability more reliable. Last week we saw a significant increase in demand for workers, and we need to stand ready to provide them and avoid waiting times.

Tax Services

We have increased our efforts to integrate with tax calculation platforms, to provide additional options for our users. At the moment we have open conversations with Cryptotrader.tax, Zenledger, Cointracking.info and Koinly.

For the moment we haven’t contacted Blockpit, but we are adapting the format of our CSV files to facilitate this integration. First step of the integration is always making the files compatible, moving to an API integration later on.

Other Integrations

Another integration we’re pursuing is with 3commas. We are at the moment waiting for a reply from their Business Development Manager. Also, as we mentioned a few weeks ago, we opened a request to add StakeCube to CCXT. If you are a developer and you want to help out with this, feel free to open a support ticket on Discord and ask to talk to CryptoKritter.

If you know of any other service we could integrate with, feel free to give them our API documentation:

https://github.com/stakecube/DevCube

Or contact us and let us know what the usual process is for us to be able to handle it.

13th Dash Masternode

Our 13th shared Dash masternode is now installed on the VPS side and waiting for all shares to be reserved. We expect that to happen soon, as it is close to 60% full at the moment.

Development News

StakeCube Protocol Wallet News

We have scheduled the first SCP hard-fork upgrade. This update will remove limitations, lower barriers and increase the blockchain’s scalability in a sustainable way. The hard-fork will consist of two upgrades merged into one:

  • SCP-2 Staking Improvement: Removes the minimum staking limit from SCP-2 staking. This will allow everyone to stake on equal terms on the network, regardless of their balance size.
  • Indexing Upgrade: This is a blockchain-specific upgrade, which will allow SCP to utilize and execute contracts using a compressed identifier. It will reduce the data load of contract executions by roughly 25%, which will also reduce fees and increase network throughput by that same amount.

SCP Tokens in v1.1.5 now support InstantSend. Instantsend renders all token actions instantaneous. Sending, receiving and staking no longer require confirmations to be displayed in your wallet. Moreover, on-chain feedback is fully pre-computed, greatly improving the UX.

Transactions powered by InstantSend will be marked with a lightning symbol:

SCP Wallet v1.1.5 is fully on-track for release, and a complete schedule will be announced shortly.
