General News

Crypto Markets Update

Bitcoin continued its decline this week, mostly after today’s keynote by Jerome Powell, the Federal Reserve Chair. As it seems, he expressed that the Federal Reserve will continue to fight inflation even though this will likely cause pain to households and businesses. Markets had anticipated a comeback of the money printer, and these remarks have crushed those hopes. The expectation now is that central banks will continue to remove liquidity from the markets, especially affecting risk-assets. However, this week we also saw some problems coming from Europe, with Italian government bonds rapidly increasing their rates.

This increase reflects a lack of confidence in the solvency of the Italian government. The higher these interest rates go, the higher the cost to pay back the already huge public debt some countries have accumulated. It is events like this that will force central banks to continue or even expand their purchasing programs. They are not likely to allow their governments to default on their debt, and because of that, it is doubtful that they will remain hawkish very long.

For the moment, it is the macro situation that seems to have the greatest influence on the Crypto markets. Bitcoin has been moving lately only as a response to inflation or unemployment data, with most other cryptocurrencies following. As we continue to face economic trouble in most places, the Crypto markets continue their sideways/bearish mood. This pessimism is also reflected by the Fear & Greed Index, that is slowly approaching “extreme fear” territory again.

Dash Shared Masternodes

This week we filled the 22nd Dash shared masternode, with the 23rd already open and collecting. In this case, it was thanks to Alex, from Krypto Magazin, who deposited almost enough coins for a full collateral. He announced it on his Youtube channel, and talked a bit about StakeCube in general. Next week we will arrange our second 500$ tournament in Thetan Arena. The game has become the most important in our community, helping us attract a lot of new people. The feature we added to our Discord to show personal game stats also was a great success.
